If walls could talk…
Danica Heuer gave her word to her Uncle Arthur on his deathbed. She would take her inheritance and buy a castle. The remark was flippant at the time, but now that Uncle Art is gone, she is honor-bound to keep that promise.
The castle Danica buys turns out to be the boon she needed to lift her spirits. Majestic and dignified, she falls in love with her new purchase immediately. The steward is helpful and very informative about the castle’s rich history and lore. Things are perfect. Or are they?
Danica’s dreams become tumultuous. Strange sounds in the night wake her. The longer she stays, the more hushed whispers she hears in town about her castle.
What will Danica do when she discovers the terrifying truth about her castle, contained deep Within These Stone Walls?
Adult Excerpt:
Over the next week, Danica’s nightly dreams were dynamic. She saw the castle as she had in previous nights, in its early years. Tonight in particular, she saw the handsome Lord Vollhoffer, looking every bit as majestic as he appeared in the portrait hanging in the hallway. She felt like a blushing virgin again as he approached her, reaching for her hand. She offered it daintily, coupled with a deep, respectful curtsey. Lord Vollhoffer took her hand and deposited upon it a tender kiss. Danica felt awash with delight. Her insides tingled as if his kiss held magic. His touch commanded her senses to obey. She looked up into his russet eyes. By all that was holy, this man was captivating! With a mere glance he spoke volumes. This was a look of pure desire.
Danica could not resist him, nor did she want to. Words were unnecessary as he tucked her gloved hand into the crook of his arm, leading her up the stairwell. She instinctively knew where they were headed. Once they had arrived at the bedroom door, he opened it for her and gestured for her to enter before him. She did so with a demure nod, stepping in and looking at the room as if she were seeing it for the first time.
The opulent furnishings left her breathless. They were different in the dream than what was currently decorating the room. The bed was made of hand-carved teak. The posts were decorated with a serpentine twist, spiraling diagonally from the ornate finials down to the floor. The headboard and footboard were equally elaborate. Danica wanted to run over and jump in it, pulling the handsome Lord with her, but that would be far too bold. Her body trembled with a commixture of nervousness and craving.
Lord Vollhoffer shut the door hard and the sound echoed with a staunch finality. She was trapped, yet she had no wish to be anywhere but here with him. He wasted no time in claiming his conquest. Moving quickly to her, he slipped his hand behind her head. His fingers snaked gently through her hair as he cradled her in his grasp, leaning in. Their eyes closed in unison as their lips met.
Sensation swelled within Danica again, that intense want. His kiss fueled her ardor and she moaned softly against his lips. She felt his other hand slip around her back, pulling her to him. With their bodies pressed together, she could feel his urgent need even through the multiple layers of fabric both were wearing.
His hands moved from their grip on her to her bodice, tugging forcefully on the laces. It was like something out of a tawdry romance novel. Just when Danica thought he was about to snap them, they gave way. Her chest heaved as it was loosed from its bonds. The dress was pushed from her shoulders, slipping downward. She wiggled her arms to urge it to release and the weighty fabric fell prey to gravity, pooling about her ankles. He drew back from the kiss for only a moment to raise her chemise over her head. She permitted him, raising her arms to facilitate easier removal.
Her own hands were not idle. She ran her fingers along his chausses and pushed them down, along with his braies. Her hands moved to grip his firm manhood. Goodness, he was blessed! She could only imagine what pleasures he could bring to her and her yearning grew. He removed his own upper garments, tossing them aside, forgotten the moment they were cast.
His muscular arms lifted her up off the floor, carrying her to the bed. He laid her down upon it with extraordinary care, as if she were fragile and would break. He climbed atop her, forsaking the temptation of foreplay. Neither of them wanted to wait.
Coupled with another fiery kiss, he pushed his way in to her tight heat. There was no pain, as he was not the first man to claim her, and surprisingly enough, she was already wet for him. His welcome intrusion rocked Danica and she gasped, exhaling with a deep moan of joy. His hips worked with forceful, rhythmic thrusts, each bringing her higher toward bliss.
Her knees bent, parting her legs more for him. He accepted the access gratefully, driving deeper still. She had been right. He did know how to reach her most erogenous places with his large member. Oh, did he ever!
Her breath grew heavy as their bodies pitched in tandem. The soft mattress cradled her in sharp contrast to his hard body. His driving thrusts evoked indescribable sensations deep within her. She had never wanted a man as much as she wanted him. More and more, over and over, their shared ardor intensified. She broke first, giving over to the ecstasy. It was as if she had cascaded over a waterfall of delight, but wasn’t done yet. Her voice was relegated to a mere whimpering moan.
His impetus surged higher as his body ravished hers. She had never had sex so enlivened, so zealous. He made her feel desired. She felt beautiful.
Just when she thought she could take no more, he drove in deep and hard. She found her voice and shrieked as her body quivered with the sensory overload. His thrusts became jerky, hips moving spasmodically as his throaty moan joined hers. She felt his massive cock pulsating deep inside her as he reached his release point.
He withdrew and rolled over to lie beside her. Danica turned to her side, draping one leg over his, curling up next to him. The sound of her heartbeat pounded in her ears. Her breath was still shallow and fast. She grazed her fingertips along his chest, smoothing the wisps of hair there. She liked a little bit of chest hair on a man. Of course, she didn’t mind looking at models who had the buff, shaved and oiled chests. Eye candy is eye candy after all, but for her own men, she liked a little softness there to nuzzle her cheek to.
Neither of them was willing to break the companionable silence by speaking. The lord of the castle had chosen her, had taken her to his bedchamber and given her the greatest sexual pleasure she had ever known. Danica was awed. She wondered what other sordid or possibly romantic plans he had for her. Would he toss her out now that she had given in to his wiles? Or would he be so pleased with her that he would wed her and make her Lady Vollhoffer? Where did that thought come from?

New Release! Summer Solstice by DCL Author Kate Hofman
They entered the bedroom, and Margaret moved to a sofa by the open fireplace, but Alessandro had other ideas. “I detest sofas for what I have in mind, cara,” he shrugged, and swept Margaret with him to the huge bed.
“I’m afraid you’ve made a mistake, I am not interested in that sort of thing, please let me go.” Her voice shaking with indignation, Margaret tried to free herself, but Alessandro had a firm grip on her, and managed to tumble her back onto his bed.
“Very nice, you’ve made your protest, and now we can get on with the more serious business of pleasuring each other,” he said calmly.
“Not with me, you won’t! I am Tom’s office manager, and did him the favour of coming to do secretarial work for you, I didn’t…. I’m not like…”
“With the right amount of coaxing, all women are exactly like that,” Alessandro assured her, to her fury.
“Where have you been while women liberated themselves from men like you?” Margaret asked, deeply upset. “No means no, and you better get used to that. Now let me go!”
Alessandro smiled. “I like this. You can’t imagine how tired I get of women draping themselves all over me, eager for the cachet of having slept with a prince…”
Margaret interrupted him, “Believe me, I’m not the least bit interested in sleeping with a prince I barely met this morning. I’ll agree to go to this dinner with you, that is all. I will borrow one of these dresses, which I will return to you at the end of the dinner. But that is it.”
Alessandro frowned. “I dislike coaxing, but if I must, I must, I suppose. It’s the Summer Solstice, Margaret, we have to celebrate it. And the best way to celebrate the Summer Solstice… Come on, cara, don’t be difficult, you know you’re only playing games with me. I saw your eyes; you want me.” He succeeded in getting the bathsheet off her, and his own clothes melted away as if by magic. He must have seduced zillions of women…
“For heaven’s sake, Margaret, you’re as slippery as an eel. How can I…Ah…” To her distress, Margaret felt herself penetrated none too gently by something huge. She couldn’t hold back a small cry of pain, which Alessandro seemed to take as a personal compliment. He drew back a little and she hoped he would withdraw entirely, but no, he only drove himself in deeper, and harder.
Still in pain from his tearing the hymen, she was wondering when she would be introduced to the joys of lovemaking, when Alessandro speeded up, finally whispering, “Ah…” against her mouth, as she felt the heat of his seed exploding into her depths. Oh, my. I’ve never felt anything as totally erotic as this… But the books said I’d feel absolute rapture… Maybe that comes with practice… With him? That isn’t very likely, no. Moments later, he collapsed on her.
After a while he left her body. “I’m sorry this had to be a quickie, Margaret, but later we’ll have all night and…”
Margaret rolled off the bed, not bothering with the bathsheet, quickly finding her own clothes and getting into them with remarkable speed. “I hope I never see you again. And I’ll tell Tom what your secretarial work consisted of. Call yourself royal – a kid from a public school could teach you manners.” With that, Margaret flew to the door, his plaintive, “But cara, what on earth is wrong?” sounding in her ears. Once in the big reception room, Margaret saw two men getting up. She threw them a repressive glance, strode unhurriedly through the double entrance doors, and went quickly into the elevator. I’ve got to get out of here! was her only thought. She made it to the hotel’s huge lobby without being intercepted by any of Alessandro’s staffers. Which was lucky for the staffers, she thought.
By time she got back to the gallery, intending to complain bitterly to Tom about his friend’s true intentions, the gallery was closed. Damn. I’d better go home. Have another shower. Wash that royal bastard’s fingerprints off me.

Ms. Hofman nails the arrogance of European royalty with her newest novel Summer Solstice. Sensuous, sexy and teasing, this novel has all the elements of pure romance.
This reviewer loves a novel that portrays the hero as the superior male with all the arrogance of that particular species. And there is nothing more satisfying than to see him brought to his knees, when he realizes what true love really means.

New Release! The Prophecy: Anslem's Son by Gwyn Lacy
Review:
One of the reasons I do like this story is it starts off with a prophecy before we even meet our characters. This will grab readers into the tale and lead them to conclude their own ending even before it happens.

Blurb:
Prince Lukas of Anslem lay sprawled on his bed. It was late into the night, and the prince of Anslem was restless. He sat up and swung his lengthy legs over the side of the bed and pushed his long, sun-kissed hair out of his face. He sighed and hung his head, and paused for a moment before he got up yet again.
He swung his feet to the floor where they rested on a great grizzly bear rug. This was the great bear that he had killed with an arrow after it went mad and attacked an outlying village. The man-eater had killed nineteen people of one of Anslem’s tribes in one winter. It felt right to walk on it.
Lukas rose to his full naked stature and stretched. It was going to be a long night. His body was the thick muscular frame of a knight who worked in heavy armor and physical training. He crossed his room to the balcony and stared out across the Kingdom of Anslem.
“Marliele,” he said, looking out into the darkness. Loneliness and despair mocked his usual indifference towards any particular woman. Many a maiden of the Kingdom of Anslem would be a willing bride.
But not Marliele.
The panorama of the Castle grounds of Anslem in the purple haze of night lay before the Prince of Anslem. His gaze from his lofty balcony followed the stone fortress walls that encompassed the vast castle grounds, and two baileys that were more like large villages.
The bailey closest to the castle contained the knights’ homes, various shops, barns for horses and cattle. All of the houses of knights and noblemen sat beside lanes with large flowering trees, bushes, and fruit trees. There was also an orchard and a barn for the knights’ horses in the first bailey and beautiful castle lawns. The foliage of the flowers and fruit trees gave out a fresh scent and made a lush landscape.
Separated by a curtain wall made of stone, the second bailey had tents and courtyards for traveling merchants and villagers seeking refuge there. Often there was so much activity that it was like a large carnival. Despite his parents’ protests, Lukas had ventured into the second bailey with his common friends. His parents had no issue with the common friends he held in high regard. It was just that amongst the transient population of the second bailey, there could be a threat to the future king.
Lukas disguised himself as a commoner in dress, and darkened his hair with soot, tying it back as a common man would. He enjoyed the freedom of the second bailey, the dancing, gambling, meeting travelers and eating their strange foods. On the large parade ground there were often contests of horse and man or games of strength. Loud and animated trading was common among the King’s Counsel of Treasury and the merchants, especially in purchasing cattle and other animals from the farmers. Then there were always the horses, and Lukas loved the horses. Each summer new colts came into the second bailey to be bid on by any man.
The splendor of the Castle of Anslem was renowned. It was a haven to so many, because justice prevailed under the kingship of his father, King Alois, and the loving and generous nature of his mother, Katrin, and his grandmother, Amelda.
A few torches still glowed against the darkness of night in the baileys. The smell of wood burning in the fireplaces reached Lukas’s nose and the sounds of the village at night reminded him of his aloneness. How could he be so alone and miserable in a place like this?
Marliele
Stop it, he told himself. You are acting like a lovesick boy. Not a grown man.
Lukas gripped the ornate metal rails of the balcony railing and closed his eyes. On the breeze was the scent of lilacs that grew everywhere around the castle grounds. A small gust of wind lifted his light-colored hair from his shoulders. He was so empty inside it felt like the breeze could blow through him. A sentry on the castle walls called out his lonesome watch cry from far away.
Lukas opened his eyes and tried to quiet the torment that squeezed his chest and tortured his mind. Where was Marliele? Why couldn’t he find her? Was Marliele another man’s wife? Was she from an enemy tribe? Was she an apparition? Why wouldn’t she tell him who she was?
Lukas gripped the railing and again looked out at the purple haze that tinted the beautiful fortress. Something about Marliele was magical and that was not unusual for the Castle Anslem. The thick timber walls forming the double barrier around the Castle Anslem’s grounds had been turned to stone by a magic egg given to his father by his grandmother, Amelda. The castle had been under attack from a fire-breathing dragon, and when his father braved the fiery attack and smashed the egg against the timbers, every wooden object turned to stone. Then the archers were able to drive the dragon away.
His father, King Alois, was brave, generous and just. The Germanic tribes and villages beyond the Castle’s stone walls were prosperous and protected. The people were loyal and devoted to his father. As King he did not exact a tax like many kings, but simply made the Castle self-sufficient and asked for only a token of what each villager could afford. Because of the King’s justice and generosity and kind deeds, the Kingdom of Anslem was the most prosperous kingdom known in the surrounding lands. It was often attacked by marauders but they were driven off by common farmers, foot soldiers and knights alike. Lukas wondered if he would ever be looked upon with such trust and affection when he was King of Anslem. He was King Alois and Queen Katrin’s only child and heir to the throne.
Lukas squinted his eyes and searched through the darkness of the lanes around the castle and the castle lawns in the hope of seeing Marliele’s lithe frame approaching him. She was not there. Not once had he ever seen her approach. She always appeared on his balcony like a magical apparition. But she was no spirit, but a flesh and blood woman who dominated his mind and heart and satisfied his flesh. He sighed as their lovemaking filled his mind and his body responded with need. He pursed his lips and looked into the night.
She wasn’t coming.
Lukas crawled back onto his bed and flopped down on his stomach. The hope of her was no longer tantalizing, but tormenting. Please, Marliele, he said to himself, pressing his face into his pillow. He felt a sudden breeze and looked up to see Marliele standing in the balcony doorway. Her hair was long and black and she had on a sheer, green gown that did nothing to hide her hard pink nipples or the dark triangle between her legs.
Lukas rose to one elbow. He met her soft green eyes.
“You’re here.”
“I am here as often as I can be, My Lord,” Marliele said, casting her eyes down. The sheer, green gown billowed ever so slightly around her full breasts and her rounded hips. He caught his breath, and felt the primal need of arousal stirring in his loins. Appear calm, he told himself, if you expect to gain her trust and find out anything about her.
He sat up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. There was no use trying to hide his erection. He sighed and was delighted to hear her laugh. He tucked his hair behind his ear and waited for some kind of signal from Marliele. He saw her eyes dart towards his lap and back to the floor. He heard her breath quicken.
Lukas rose from the bed and held out his hand to her and waited for her response. There was a momentary pause as she raised her eyes to his, and then she flung herself into his arms.
