New Release! Love for Christmas by DCL's Contemporary Romance Books Author Kate Hofman

Changing from her travel clothes to narrow black velvet trousers, worn with a brown cashmere V-neck sweater and black kid ballet slippers, she quickly brushed her soft, blonde hair into its natural curls, and put some pink lip-gloss on. Now, she felt ready for l’heure bleue. She admitted ruefully that its name—the blue hour—suited her mood better than any ‘happy hour’. Willing her sad thoughts away, she put a determined smile on her face and quickly walked down a wide, curving stairway to the first floor. As she descended, she saw a number of people milling about the great hall, stopping here to chat, moving over to another group. She frowned. If l’heure bleue was this busy, there would be little chance of a seat in the bar. Still, she was going to try. She wanted to hear the guitarist.

The moment she entered the Bar Intime, various unattached men tried to attract her attention.

“Chérie, par ici” – over here, honey.

“Vous alors, si jolie et blonde, venez ici” – You there, so pretty and blonde, come here.

“Viens ici, ma p’tite, faisons l’amour…” Come here, let’s make love.

At that moment, a tall, dark man, seated opposite the last speaker, got to his feet. Staring the man down with utter disdain, he said, “You will speak to this lady with the utmost respect, is that clear?”

Eloïse felt her heart stand still. Nick.

The man who had so audaciously suggested he make love to Eloïse, seemed to shrink within himself, mumbling, “I din’t mean nuthin’ by it, juss a joke.”

“A joke in very poor taste,” Nick replied, breaking through the cluster of men who were staring at Eloïse. He slowly walked over to her, stopping in front of her, his eyes sweeping over her, missing nothing.

“Thank you,” she said hesitantly, “but what are you doing here? A quiet village in the Laurentians isn’t your scene. Did your wife talk you into this?” At the thought of Monique, Nick’s secretary-researche r, who had broken up the happy marriage she’d believed she had with her husband, her voice cracked, and her eyes flashed.

Calmly, Nick replied, “I’m no longer married. My wife divorced me, as you well know. I am here for a rest—I’ve been working too hard. What are you doing here, Ellie? This place is a bit expensive for a woman who refused her husband’s offer of alimony, coldly rejecting his efforts to make her financially comfortable. Are you waiting for your current boyfriend to join you?”

Deeply offended by the contempt in Nick’s tone, Ellie shook her blonde curls back from her face. “Not that it’s any of your business, but after the way you made me suffer in our marriage, I’m not likely to give another man a shot at making me equally unhappy.” Realizing her lips were trembling, she pressed them together, hoping Nick wouldn’t realize how vulnerable she still was to him. Turning away, she said, “I won’t remain here, that man was way out of line. I’m going back to my room.”

“Because of that common slob? I think he should leave, Ellie, not you.” Behind him, he heard the other men berating their buddy who had spoken so crudely to Ellie. At last, one of the men addressed himself to Nick.

“No need for the lady to leave. Marcel is going, right now.” They hospitably opened their circle, offering Ellie a seat at the bar. Nick did not resume his seat on the opposite side, he remained standing close by Ellie. “Let us buy you and the lady a drink to show you we are not like Marcel,” one of the men offered.

Nick shook his head. “That was immediately obvious to me. No, let me buy you guys a drink, you’ve been so kind, making your rude friend leave, so that Madame can feel comfortable here. Thank you.” He turned to the bartender. “Bartender? Drinks for these gentlemen, and a slushy margarita for the lady, please.”

The bartender nodded, and one of the men said, “Ah, you know the lady well enough to order her drink. Small wonder you defended her.”

“We used to be married,” said Nick briefly. He was amused at the gasp of surprise his words evoked.

The guitarist entered to a scattering of applause, and began to play a soft melody with a Bossa Nova rhythm. Ellie was grateful to have a few moments to herself. Nick… here. Defending me, and now he’s standing behind me. He seems to be alone… Does that mean he never married Monique, after all? Or are they divorced already? Dare I ask him…?

The barman placed the slushy margarita in front of Ellie, and began to serve the other drinks Nick had ordered. Nick slowly moved closer to the bar, until he was right beside Ellie. Lifting the vodka-tonic he had been carrying, he toasted Ellie, saying, “To a most unexpected and welcome meeting.” Ellie took a deep breath, grateful when their privacy was interrupted by the men Nick had bought drinks for. They were toasting him and Ellie smilingly. When Nick responded, she smiled at the men.

Then they were alone again. Alone with their broken marriage, in the midst of a sea of happy, cheerful people.

New Release! Safe Matters by DCL Author Ruth Rogue

He took a gallant step toward her. His intense gaze nearly stopped her heart from beating. She stood mesmerized by his muscular chest and seductive brown eyes. Her face heated and all she could think of was his nearness, if he touched her she might very well melt like chocolate. Could it be that the man she’d found herself fantasizing about was looking at her with desire? He must be affected by the close confines and the heat.

“You. Helen, you are one fascinating woman.” He lifted her chin with his finger. Then, he suddenly stopped, just as she thought he would kiss her.

She turned away hurt. Fool, it’s not as though you’re the last woman on earth, just the most convenient one. Trapped in a safe with a gorgeous man. Men like Jack Guardetto wouldn’t give someone like me the time of day outside of AA.

“I can’t do it,” he said.

“Of course you can’t. I didn’t expect you to. It’s hot and neither of us is thinking,” she said facing the wall. Her eyes welled up and she hoped with all her might the power would come on and Kevin would open the door. Please don’t let this man see me on the verge of tears. I have to get out of here. I do not want this. If only I could push him aside and run to my office, lock the door and get back to work.

“No. That’s the problem,” he said and turned her to face him. “I am thinking. I just don’t want to get involved with anyone I work with at AA.”

“I have that rule, too,” she said looking down. Just because she had not been with a man in nearly a year and was stuck in what amounted to a closet during a power outage did not give her the right to break her cardinal rule. No dating anyone employed at AA.

Jack continued to hold his hands on her arms. “Maybe when this store review is over we could get together.”

She looked up at him in disbelief. Did he just ask for a date? Helen nibbled on her bottom lip as Jack rubbed his large hands up and down her arms. Her body trembled, adding to her embarrassment.

“Frigid,” she said under her breath, but Jack heard her.

“Not to me. I think you’re…” he began.

She put her finger to his lips. “Don’t, you’ll regret it. We have to keep our wits about us,” she said. But, when he took hold of her finger and enveloped it between his lips, all thinking ceased. He sucked on her fingers one by one, slowly in and out, making the moistness increase between her thighs. She was nearly gasping for air.

When Jack took her hand to his hardened dick and gently pressed his lips to hers, she sighed. He deepened the kiss, stirring unexplainable emotions in Helen. Feelings she had never before experienced making her blood flow rampantly throughout her quivering body. His hand reached under her blouse and held her swelling breast, making her thrust forward in order to feel more of his hand against her. She moved her hand to his muscular ass as her thigh pressed against his hard penis.

“Helen,” Brent called out from the other side of the safe door.

“Yes, Brent, I’m in here,” she was grateful the words stumbled out. Helen quickly broke away and took the two available steps to the door.

“Charles asked that I check on you. He’s concerned and wants you to know that he’s aware of the situation here.”

Sensing Jack’s sudden nearness, she turned and put her hand to Jack’s mouth.

“Just what is going on here, Brent?” She asked looking at the door but not removing her hand from Jack’s mouth.

“The storm was brutal bringing down trees and electrical lines. It has passed and the energy trucks are out but the rain is coming down heavy and a lot of roads are impassable. As soon as I find out when the electricity is going on, I will let you know. Right now the message I got off my cell phone from the electric providers is they’ll let us know when they know.”

“Thank you Brent,” she said.

“Has anyone been by to check on you besides me?” Brent asked.

Her words caught on the dryness in her throat as Jack playfully tongued every inch of her hand. Her body throbbed and her knees weakened. It took all her might to get out one word. “Kevin,” she managed.

“Oh. I was just wondering ‘cause I haven’t seen Jack and thought maybe he stopped by.”

She pulled her hand away from Jack and took in a deep breath. “No, just Kevin.”

“I’m sure it’s hot in there for you,” Brent said concern lacking in his voice. Hot, he didn’t begin to know just how hot.

“Do what you have to to get comfortable, it could be a while.”

Wetness came upon the back of her neck and she knew Jack had squirted water from her bottle.

She forced herself not to turn around and said, “Did you not hear what Brent said about it being awhile. You shouldn’t waste the water.”

His tongue was on her skin licking up the water before it fell to her shirt. “I’m not wasting it,” he licked her again before adding, “just making the most of it.” His mouth retrieved the water his tongue left behind until every inch of her neck was soaking in Jack’s tongue waves.

How was it he made her tingle in delight? Maybe it was the heat or perhaps the confinement that caused her to let down her defenses. She stopped questioning her next move and just allowed it to happen. It had been too long. Her body was aching with desire for this man. The hunger radiating from his gaze stunned her. She allowed herself to get lost in the moment.

Helen struggled to unbutton her shirt that clung to her like a latex glove. She watched as her blouse fell to the floor; thinking what was about to happen had to be a dream. Then she felt Jack’s fingers under her chin and he lifted her head. His smoldering brown eyes were pleading with her to give in to their desires. He tore his gaze from hers to take in her erect nipples covered in the sheer fabric of her bra. She could see first the surprise and then the delight in his eyes.

New Release! Golden Adonis by DCL Author Kate Hofman

After dinner, they went back to the loungers on the screened-in verandah, with the remains of the bottle of good red wine. “More?” RJ asked, bottle poised.

“Sure, why not,” Janice smiled, holding out her glass. “I’ll go make coffee when this bottle is gone, and you can pour us some brandy.”

RJ shook his head. “No, thanks. I’m not in the mood for coffee, but if you want some, I can make it. And I prefer drinking red wine to the kick in the guts that your brandy usually gives me. Where on earth do you buy that stuff?”

“Friend of mine makes it,” Janice said casually. “Got his own still at his cottage in the country. It’s 101 proof.”
“Small wonder I felt kicked in the gut, then.” He became aware of soft, seductive South American music. After listening for a moment, he asked, “What’s the music?”

“A Brazilian guitarist, with a rhythm section backing him. It’s a new CD. The moment I heard it, I had to have it.”
RJ nodded. “Great music for dancing…” He waited a beat. “Wanna dance?” “Love to.” RJ got up with the agility of a jaguar, and Janice quickly followed.

They moved to the living room, kicked their sandals off and danced on the velvety carpet in their bare feet.
After a while, RJ realized that he was incredibly turned on. It struck him that Janice was clinging to him—she had to be aware of how he felt. This was quickly confirmed, when she whispered, “You’re as turned on as I am…” With those words, she lost her footing, RJ tried to pull her upright, but her feet got tangled with his, and they both slid to the carpet. Janice giggled, whispering, “RJ, I don’t think you should be driving in your condition…”

“In my condition…?”

“Mmhmm,” Janice muttered. “Let me make you more comfortable…” She slurred the last word slightly, and began to remove his muscle-shirt. The moment she had pushed it up far enough, she began to feast on his nipples, licking, sucking, tickling with her tongue. He began to laugh. “RJ, you taste so good…” she moaned, “but help me get this shirt off you.” RJ obligingly removed the offending garment, and began to tug her top up, sliding his hands underneath, cupping one of her spectacular breasts, rubbing his thumb over her already hard nipple. I’m glad she’s not wearing a bra… He bent his head, taking her nipple on his tongue, where it seemed to harden and lengthen, as if he had given it a life of its own. When he sucked harder, Janice moaned again, “Don’t stop, RJ. This feels so good…” She slid her hands to his hair, removing the ‘doo’ rag, and confining his pony-tail. Instantly, his golden hair cascaded around them, giving them an unusual kind of privacy to do as they wished with each other.

New Release! Best of Friends by Contemporary Romance Books author S.J. Ronayne

Best of Friends: A New Contemporary Romance Book by S.J. Ronayne

It was eleven o’clock Saturday morning after a long trip out of town. That meant Duke had probably been up for six hours and would be by soon to pick up Cubby and take Ari out to lunch. Ari sat in the middle of her bed with Cubby doing his damnedest to curl around her hips. The book Libby had helped her pick out sat open a few inches in front of her folded legs.

How to Seduce a Man Without Looking Desperate
Well, the title pretty much said it all. She wanted to seduce Duke without looking like she was trying to seduce him. She skipped the part about finding the man to focus on; after all, she already had that. The second section was on flirting. Some of the suggestions the book offered made Ari realized she was doing the exact opposite.

The first suggestion was already out the window. It said to leave him with a little mystery. That was too late considering Ari and Duke had known each other since they were little kids. Number two held possibilities. “Casual touches such as touching his arm and leaning into his body space to get the time. Find a way to ‘accidentally’ brush your leg or arm against his. Put on a sexy perfume then ask him what he thinks. For those more timid, place it on your wrist or the inside of your elbow; for those more daring, dab some on your neck or behind the ears. Don’t go for anything too audacious such as behind the knee.”

Much to Cubby’s dismay Ari got up and walked to her vanity. Her parents had recently sent her some packages from their retirement world travel extravaganza. One of the gifts was a vial of scented oil from China. It was a sweet spicy floral. It was very different from the vanilla scent she’d worn since she was sixteen and Ari figured now might as well be the time for something new. She popped off the stopper of the decorative glass bottle and touched the bottom of it to her wrists. She swiped her wrists against the insides of her elbows and then touched the stopper to her neck. On her skin the perfume wasn’t as strong and seemed even more pleasant a scent than in the bottle.

Retrieving the book she went to her chest of drawers. The book suggested clothing, while it should fit the environment, that didn’t mean it couldn’t be sexy. Clothes that followed the body, that were neither snug nor voluminous, were best. They showed off curves without being trashy. Since they would probably go somewhere casual for lunch, shorts and a tee were good. Ari pulled out a pair of faded pink denim shorts that ended a few inches below her butt and had a little give but weren’t saggy. The top was a sleeveless V-neck, empire-waist cream cotton shirt with small yellow and pink dots in a haphazard pattern. After choosing a coordinating nail color she painted her nails and toenails, waiting for Duke to arrive.
